Tyvette Symone

Tyvette Symone is a Brooklyn-based artist who uses natural materials such as crystals, feathers, sand, dried moss and pressed flowers to create magical works of art in glass and on canvas.
Her natural affection for crystals and their metaphysical properties is what first inspired her work. Combined with her strong practice in Shamanism, Tyvette found that the practicality of a medicine bag could be re-designed in a more modern setting that was complimentary to the practice.
"I like taking what nature has given us and transforming it in a way that we can appreciate and incorporate it in our daily lives. The society we live in now is so far removed from nature. My art is designed to bring that element back into our living space and our hearts. From drying each flower petal to carefully selecting and hand crushing every crystal that I use on the canvas or in glass, its all a process that I could not have developed without the help of our beloved earth. It takes time and patience to create sacred objects, and that is what inspires my art the most."
Tyvette's long term goals are to learn the art of glass blowing. She aspires to travel the world hand sourcing all of her own materials, including sand for glass and mining her own crystals.
